Volunteers have begun fundraising to give out coupons to the Farmers Market

Volunteers are working to raise the $20,000 needed to fully fund a program that distributes coupons to the Winneshiek Farmers Market through the Community Food Pantry at First Lutheran Church in Decorah.

Last year was the first year for the coupon program and it was well utilized.  That had led organizers to try to expand it this year. 

The coupons distributed to families in need can be used to buy vegetables, fruits, meat, eggs, and honey at the Winneshiek Farmers Market.  The coupons let people add fresh, nutritious, locally grown food to their diets.  Coupons can also be used to purchase plants for a food garden, helping people to raise their own food and food for their neighbors.
