The Winneshiek County Historical Society and the Locust School Museum are currently repairing a collapsing wall on the east side of the museum.
The project is being done to preserve the building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Fundraising efforts began when the wall began to move. This spring the situation became so serious that work had to be started before the wall collapsed. WCHS says when the repairs are complete, it will be able to continue operation of Locust School as a museum for elementary school children and the public to visit.
The Winneshiek County Historical Society has started a Go Fund Me campaign to raise $15,000 for the project. WCHS is a 501c3 entity, so donations are fully tax deductible. Donate at www.gofundme.com/hkzpms5k
