Iowa's Dairy Center just south of NICC Calmar on Highway 150 has been awarded the "Dairy Promoter of the Year Award" by the Winneshiek County Dairy Association.
The award is given to businesses or individuals who are strong supporters of REAL dairy products in the community or their business. The Northeast Iowa Dairy Foundation was recognized in particular for the organization's many promotion activities throughout the year.
Winneshiek County Dairymen also recognized the Iowa Dairy Center for ranking in the top 10 of the top 10 percent above breed average, taking home 1st, 6th, and 7th for their crossbreds, Holsteins and Jerseys, respectively; for having the top Jersey cow for fat with 1,406 pounds; top Jersey for protein with 1,061 pounds and top crossbred for fat and milk with 39,740 pounds of milk and 1058 pounds of fat.
