Decorah woman adopts rescue dog and wins AKC competition

Decorah resident and Pampered Pooch Pet Grooming owner Brittany Allen has taken one of her adopted dogs to an American Kennel Club national competition and placed fifth.

The American Kennel Club says Brittany Allen  adopted Sammy from the Humane Society of Northeast Iowa in the summer 2013.

Brittany trained Sammy and the dog gradually gained confidence.  Sammy now competes regularly in obedience, rally, agility, and barn hunt and will be making her debut in the highest level of AKC Obedience classes – Utility – later this month.

She is also a certified therapy dog and makes weekly therapy visits to a nursing facility.
