Plans announced for "Pooch Schooch 5k Fun Run"

The Winneshiek County Fairgrounds will play host to the first annual Pooch Scooch 5k Fun Run/Walk on Saturday May 7.

Beginning at 9 a.m. participants can partner up with loving pooches in need of a home to run or walk the 5k course. Participants are also welcome to bring along their own dogs as well, but no dog is required to participate.

Event proceeds will benefit EARL Public Transit and to help the Humane Society of Northeast Iowa's emergency pet fund, for animals with significant medical needs.

Paired with the race is a Goofy Dog Trick contest and other fun games such as a dunk tank, tightrope walking and more.

The event is sponsored by the Northeast Iowa Community Action Spring Festival and the Humane Society of Northeast Iowa's 7th Annual Spring Event Pet Expo and Fundraiser.
