The North Winneshiek School Board has approved the district's 2017 Fiscal Year budget.
The budget sets the property tax rate for school purposes at $12.87 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, which is a $1.82 per $1,000 decrease from this fiscal year. The reason for the levy rate drop is due to higher than expected district property valuations and a reduction in the cash reserve portion of the levy.
The total levy will generate $1,911,520 in property taxes for the school district.
The North Winneshiek School District's property valuation increased from $137,234,804 last year to $148,502,398 this year, which reflects an 8 percent increase in the overall property value in the district.
