Letter to the Editor: Thanks for "tending the garden" of Decorah

(This Letter to the Editor comes from Liz Rog of Decorah):

"As we amble into spring, I write to send gratitude to many people.

•      To all the people who pick up trash from sidewalks and roadsides at this time of year when it's so needed. What a surprising amount of litter emerged in March after the snow melted! Yet already many caring hands have picked up much of it, one piece at a time. Whether it's a few pieces each day or whole bagfuls, such as I saw Julie Trytten and her son Larsson gathering along Locust Road last week, it makes a big difference in this place we love!
•      To all the friendly car drivers who yield to pedestrians and bicyclists! Ours is such a perfect-sized town for getting around on foot, and it's made better by all these friendly vehicle drivers.
•      To all the people in parks, trails, sidewalks, and stores who look up and greet passersby with a smile and a hello. You make our days sweeter!

Thanks to all for tending the garden of home, in whatever way you do."
