Decorah School Board passes 2016-17 budget

The Decorah Community School Board has passed the 2016-17 budget.  It did so without public comment on Monday night.

The budget of $26,614,527 was passed with the original financial figures, which included a property tax levy of $14.95729 per $1,000 taxable valuation. However, with the Iowa Legislature passage of a 2.25 percent Supplemental State Aid package (after the March School Board meeting), the amount of the tax levy should decrease to $14.74396 per $1,000.

Superintendent Mike Haluska notes that the rate is down approximately $1.97 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation since the last bond issue was passed five years ago.
