March was warm and wet in Decorah

Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz says March continued a string of months of above normal temperatures in Decorah.

The average temperature in Decorah was 40.7 degrees--8.1 degrees above the average for the 124 Marches for which records have been kept in Decorah.  That makes March the seventh month in a row of above normal temperatures in Decorah.

Just 8 of the last 124 Marches have been warmer than March of 2016, while 115 Marches have been cooler.

March also saw 3.90 inches of precipitation in Decorah--more than two inches more than normal in March.  That leaves Decorah with a precipitation surplus of 5.65 inches over the last 12 months.  Just 3 Marchest have been wetter than March of 2016, while 120 Marches were drier.
