Demolition has begun of the Bluffs Inn

Crews from Skyline Construction braved the cold and wet weather Thursday to begin setting up fences at the Bluffs Inn property on Highway 9 in Decorah.

It's the first step in the demolition of the hotel and restaurant building.  Skyline crews should be on site for around three weeks.  They will take some material like lumber to the Winneshiek County Landfill.  However, other material, such as bricks and concrete, will be ground up and used as fill material on the site.

The demolition work also includes the shut off of water and sewer lines (which has already happened) and the breaking up of asphalt paving on the property.
