City signs agreement with Winneshiek Farmers Market for 2016

The Winneshiek Farmers Market will be back in its usual location in 2016, thanks to a contract renewal approved Monday night by the Decorah City Council.

Farmers Market manager Steve Mc Cargar says exhibitors have been pleased with the move to the lower Co-op parking lot in 2012.  "The decision to move it over there was a good one," Mc Cargar told council members.

This season the Farmers Market will have a picnic table and bike rack on the lawn near the booths.  It will also continue to discuss with the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce whether to participate in Ridiculous Day by moving food booths up to Water Street on just that one Saturday.  No agreement has been reached yet, but Mc Cargar says the Farmers Market "learned a few things" last year when it move to Water Street that Saturday.
