North Winneshiek School Superintendent/Principal Tim Dugger says next year's school budget will probably have a lower property tax rate.
Dugger, who is preparing the budget for next fiscal year, says the tax rate appears it will be $12.86 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. That would be a decrease of $1.82 per $1,000 of assessed valuation from this year.
Dugger says property valuations in the school district are higher than expected and the school district will be reducing its cash reserve, leading to the reduction in the levy rate.
