A Decorah High School team has qualified for the Iowa high school mock trial state tournament scheduled for March 28th, 29th and 30th in Des Moines.

A team of Emellia Sims, Laurel Fadness, Logan Brauer, Kalle Solberg, Drew Sullivan, Naomi Davidson, Katie Perez and Brianna Doyle went undefeated at regional competition Wednesday in Waterloo.  Decorah HS also sent a team of younger mock trial participants--Luke Stock, James Paulson, Erick Fadness, Hayden Carlson, Megan Robinson, Sarah Mumford, Abby Trewin, Isabel de la Cruz Hexom and Emma Fretheim.

Mock trial is designed to introduce students to the legal system by providing a challenging, academic competition.  Lawyers from communities throughout Iowa contribute their time as coaches and judges at the tournaments.  Last year, more than 2,000 students from across Iowa participated.
