State Representative Darrel Branhagen announced today that he will not seek re-election.
Branhagen represents District 55 in the Iowa House of Representatives, which includes most of Winneshiek County and parts of Clayton and Fayette Counties.
"I have served all of you in Northeast Iowa for the last two years in the Iowa House of Representatives, and they have been among the best in my life," said Branhagen in a statement. "It has been a true honor and privilege, and the only time of my life close to this experience were my 30 years of service in the United States Army. I thank all of you for your past and future support for me and my family."
An announcement is expected soon from someone who wants to be a Republican Party candidate for Iowa House 55. There are already two Democratic Party candidates for Iowa House 55--former Winneshiek County Supervisor Steve McCargar and West Union attorney Pat Ritter.
