How did Emily Fazzino die in 2012? That, of course, is the central question in the trial in Decorah of her husband, Alex Fazzino, accused of first degree murder in his wife's death.
Prosecutors contend Alex either strangled or drowned Emily. Defense attorneys say Emily died because of the effects of her addiction to prescription painkillers.
Thursday in Winneshiek County District Courtroom private forensic pathologist Thomas Brady, who was hired by the defense, talked about his efforts to "clarify the event."
Brady said he looked for signs of disarray in the bathroom in which Emily's body was found and saw no evidence of a struggle. The scene, said Brady, was not a scene of a bathroom in disarray.
But Brady's conclusion was that there was no "defining data" of what had happened in the bathroom--and the only account is what Alex Fazzino told police.
