Around 8:00 p.m. on January 29th of 2012 the Boone Police Department received a 9-1-1 call, asking them to come to the home of Alex and Emily Fazzino.
The prosecution in Alex Fazzino's murder trial, being held in Decorah because of pretrial publicity in Boone, on Tuesday began to lay out its case by calling several Boone police officers to the stand to testify about what they saw that evening more than more years ago.
Police officer Josh Olsen was one of the three Boone Police officers who responded to the 9-1-1 call. He told the courtroom Tuesday that the officers found the non-responsive body of Emily Fazzino in the bathroom of the Fazzino's house. The officers dragged her out of the bathtub to a nearby hallway, where they used an AED and tried chest compressions to bring her back to life, but were not successful.
Olsen also testified that he noticed bruises on Emily Fazzino's head and asked Alex Fazzino about them. Fazzino replied that the bruises "must have happened when I took her out (of the bathtub)."
The prosecution will call more witnesses to the stand Wednesday.
