Should private vendors be able to set up shop at city parks?

The Decorah Park-Rec Board has rejected a request for permission for a private food vendor to set up for business in the parking lot of the Decorah Swimming Pool this summer.

But board members say it's a case of wanting to preserve the business of the Park Board-run concessions stand at the swimming pool.  Board members say they'll decide future applications on a case-by-case basis--and might be open to allowing private vendors on park district property when they're not competing with the city's concession stands.
