Jury selection will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Fazzino murder trial

A full day of questioning of potential jurors in the Alexander Fazzino murder trial in Decorah ended at 5:00 p.m. Monday without jurors being chosen.

Around 90 people were called to the Winneshiek County Courthouse on Monday morning to potentially serve as jurors in the case.  But prosecuting attorneys and defense attorneys got chances to ask questions of the potential jurors in an attempt to seat 12 jurors and two alternates.

Circuit Court Judge Michael J. Moon had hoped to have a jury empaneled by the end of the day on Monday, but several potential jurors were disqualified, stretching out the process.  He told all the remaining potential jurors to return to the courthouse at 8:30 a.m. Monday.

After the jury is seated, opening arguments in the case will begin.

The body of Fazzino's wife, Emily, was found in the bathtub of the family's home in Boone in January of 2012.  Police originally ruled the death a suicide, but Fazzino was arrested on first degree murder charges in April of 2013.  The trial has been moved to Winneshiek County on a change of venue because of pretrial publicity in Boone.
