Leaky County Jail roof will get fixed

The Winneshiek County Board has approved a $76,350 contract with Allen Roofing of Monona to put a new roof on the County Jail.

The money will pay of a new vinyl roof, although some other minor costs will not be covered, such as crane rental and the cost of new insulation, if it is needed.

As a result, the County Board approved a motion to allocate "up to $100,000" for the project--with the understanding that any unspent funds will go back into the county's general fund.

Allen Roofing says it will order the supplies immediately.  Installation will probably be done in May--after April showers stop.
