Northeast Iowa Community College ag students did well at the Iowa Postsecondary Agriculture Students Conference at Indian Hills Community College. The organization represents post-secondary institutions offering certificates, diplomas, associate degrees and baccalaureate degrees associated with agriculture/agribusiness, agriculture technologies, horticulture and natural resources.
NICC teams claimed the top five spots In the Dairy Specialist competition:
1st Place: Chase Saxton of Lake Mills; Shawn Johnson of Winona, Minnesota; and Andy Houdek of Caledonia, Minnesota.
2nd Place: Chelsey Jensen of Amery, Wissconsin; Michael Nettinga of Hull; and Adriana Aldinger of Winona, Minnesota.
3rd Place: Austin Vander Haak of Lynden, Washington; Ryan Gaul, Colesburg; and Rachel Selke of Dakota, Minnesota.
4th Place: Kirk Kenyon of Whittmore; Ellis Frank of New Richmond, Wisconsin; and Aaron Houdek of Caledonia, Minnesota.
5th Place: Gwen Sprank of Bellevue; Clare Cook of Bellevue; and Kashayla Hovey of Owatonna, Minnesota.
NICC teams placed 2nd, 4th, and 10th out of 19 teams In the Beef Specialist competition:
2nd Place: Zach Bieber of Waukon; Devin Ryan of Waukon; and Garth Cooper of Waukon.
4th Place: Karl Klocke of Arlington; Adam Fliehler of Arlington; and Brady McCabe of Harmony, Minnesota.
10th Place: Grahm Ormiston of Heltonville, Indiana.; Alex Hauber of Ridgeway; and Levi Klimesh of Calmar.
NICC teams placed 3rd and 5th out of 24 teams in the College Bowl event:
