Decorah Police have released details about two accidents and one arrest.
A two-vehicle accident around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday near the Decorah High School involved 15-year-old Hailey Nierling of Decorah, who was turning left into the diagonal parking spaces on the south side of Claiborne Drive when she was struck by a car driven by 58-year-old Mark Hackman of Decorah. Hackman told police he did not observe any turn signals on Nierling's car and did not have enough time to react when she turned. The accident caused a total of $6,000 in damages, with neither driver ticketed.
Police also say they arrested a Spring Grove woman on Wednesday around 2:00 p.m. Walmart security officers apprehended 29-year-old Ashley Ryant inside the store, then contacted police. Ryant was charged with shoplifting and then released.
