Many herald the first sightings of robins as the first sign of spring. That is not necessarily the case. Robins don't show up in your gardens in the winter, and for the most part they don't like snow. But that doesn't mean they aren't around. Actually they winter in all the lower 48 states.
But their winter habits change as they search for food, and do so in very large flocks as they collectively search for something to eat.
Recently, some very large flocks have been seen at Twin Springs. They are finding food stream side. So even if you don't think spring is arriving soon, maybe take a trip out to Twin Springs. You may get lucky and find yourself thinking about the change in seasons.
