Republicans lined up at Carrie Lee School

The locations of the Republican Party and Democrat Party caucuses in Decorah were jammed with long lines of people Monday night.

Turnout was heavy at Carrie Lee Auditorium for Decorah Republicans.  Turnout at Decorah High School, First Lutheran Church and Decorah Methodist Church included many young people who were first-time caucus goers.

Political experts said some of the non-traditional presidential candidates, such as Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Bernie Sanders, needed high turnout at caucuses in order to do well Monday night.
