January in Decorah was warm and dry

The average temperature in Decorah in January was 17.3 degrees, according to Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz.  Bernatz has issued his report on January weather conditions in Decorah, saying the month was warm and dry.

Since 1894, January has averaged 16.0 degrees and 1.02 inches of precipitation, according to Bernatz.  This year's temperatures placed January of 2016 56th on the list of 123 years for which temperatures have been kept.  This year's precipitation of 0.81 inches placed January of 2016 70th on the list of 123 years.

For the past year in Decorah, nine months have been warmer than average and seven months have been drier than average.
