(Julie e-mails: "Can you clarify something for me? I tried to call the Auditors Office, but they were closed and I may not get a chance to call Friday. I live in Ward 3, in the west side of Decorah, between College Drive and the 5th Avenue bridge. All information I see tells me I have to caucus in Frankville if want to attend the Republican Party caucus. Is this correct?")
Mr. Answer Person says: "Yes, this is correct. The explanation for this is that with redistricting after the 2010 U.S. Census, the county supervisor district boundaries in Winneshiek County were redrawn. That put a few City of Decorah residents on the West Side into a supervisor district that is largely rural and includes Frankville Township.
Caucus locations are picked by the political parties and NOT by the County Auditor. The Republican Party chose the Frankville Fire Station because it was a central location for the district.
