Decorah High School has named Andrew Larson as the recipient of the Norman C. Bradish Scholarship for the 2015-16 school year.
The scholarship pays for most or all of the costs of sending a male graduate of Decorah High School to college. The recipient must possess high academic ability, must be liked by peers and adults, and must display high standards of character. The recipient must agree to attend a non-religious college or university outside the state of Iowa and must remain unmarried until finishing his studies.
Larson plans to attend the University of Minnesota, where he will major in Biology. He has been active in Decorah High School and the community. He has lettered in track, cross-country, concert choir and orchestra and serves as vice-president of National Honor Society. In addition, Larson has participated in Large Group Speech, Physics Olympics and D-Club.
In 2015, Larson was named an AP Scholar with Honors, an honor given to those who pass four Advanced Placement Exams with an average score of 4 or higher. Finally, he has spent many hours volunteering and participating in activities at First Lutheran Church.
Andrew is the son of Steve and Jennifer Larson of Decorah.
