A prolific artist and naturalist, Ladislav Hanka of Kalamazoo, MIchigan has exhibited an intense interest in the natural world, especially that of birds and bees. On Wednesday a print and mixed-media exhibit of Hanka's work, "In Pursuit of Birds," will open in Luther College's Preus Library. The exhibit is free and open to the public with no charge for admission.
Hanka's work has been exhibited at the Fogg Museum of Art at Harvard University, the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, the National Museum of Prague, the British Library in London and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
He holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Kalamazoo College, a master's degree in zoology from Colorado State University and a master of fine arts degree in printmaking from Western Michigan University. He currently lives in Kalamazoo.
