NEICAC is still taking heating assistance applications

Worried about what the latest cold spell will do to your heating bills?  Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation is reminding the public it is still taking applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

This year the household income eligibility level for the program has been raised from 150 percent of the federal poverty level to 175 percent.  If your household applied for LIHEAP last winter during the 2014-2015 LIHEAP program year, your application can also be done online at: http://www.neicac.org/energy.html .

The program has been established to help qualifying low-income Iowa homeowners and renters pay a portion of their primary heating costs.  All low-income Northeast Iowans are encouraged to apply, including senior citizens and individuals with disabilities.  Households burning wood/corn/coal or where heat is included as part of the rent may also be eligible for assistance.

For more information, contact NEICAC's Winneshiek County offices in Decorah at 305 Montgomery Street or call (563) 382-8436, extension 150.
