A Decorah woman has been sent to Mitchellville prison after a judge ruled she had violated her probation.
37-year-old Cheryl Albrecht-Zweibohmer of Decorah was convicted in 2015 of two counts of identity theft and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. All four charges were aggravated misdemeanors. Deputies claimed Albrecht-Zweibohmer used a Decorah resident's personal information to apply for two credit cards--then used those credit cards after they arrived to buy merchandise and make a cash withdrawal.
Zweibohmer was sentenced to two years in prison on each of the four charges, but placed on probation.
In 2014, Zweibohmer had been sentenced to five years in prison on a charge of credit card fraud and two years in prison on a charge of Third Degree Theft in a case involving claims that she charged an Omaha woman $550 for a crocheted blanket that never arrived. She was placed on probation on those charges, too.
Now a NE Iowa judge has ruled that Zweibohmer has violated the terms of her probation—and has ordered her to serve a prison term instead. Judge John Bauercamper ordered Zweibohmer to be sent to the Mitchellville Correctional Institution for women and to serve her four two-year terms consecutively, meaning an eight-year prison term. Zweibohmer has been taken to Mitchellville.
