Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee made a stop in Decorah Wednesday morning--one of 150 events he says he will attend in Iowa in the next month.
Huckabee got a tour of the Deco Products factory, then spoke to a crowd of around 75 people. He told the audience that polling by his campaign shows that 75 percent of Iowans are still undecided about whom they will support in the February 1st Iowa Caucus. He said he believes Iowans want to meet the candidates personally--which is why he has scheduled so many events.
Huckabee's visit to Decorah came one day after President Barack Obama announced that he would sign an executive order tightening restrictions on gun sales. Huckabee called the action by the president "unconstitutional." He also said none of the ten separate actions being taken by the president would have prevented any of the mass shootings that have happened in the last several years. He said gun violence has dropped since 1993 and suggests the best way to stop mass shootings is by ending "gun-free zones" and training and arming people to take down a shooter when the firing begins--not in 20 minutes when police arrive.
