Several major equipment purchases will be made by the County Highway Department in the 2015-2016 fiscal year.
County Engineer Lee Bjerke says he wants to get bids soon on a new maintainer for county crews--which is expected to cost around $250,000.
That comes on the heels of the purchase of an excavator for around $187,000 earlier this fiscal year. But county supervisors agree with Bjerke's assessment that the equipment is needed.
Supervisors on Monday approved amending this year's second road budget by $187,000. They point out the secondary road fund still has a balance of just over one million dollars.
