Major winter storm is hitting Decorah

The National Weather Service Office in La Crosse has issued a Winter Storm warning for Winneshiek County and a large portion of the Upper MIdwest through 6:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are expected, as well as possible ice accumulations of up to one-fifth of an inch.  Heavier snow amounts will occur farther west.  Wind gusts of 30 to 40 miles an hour are expected.

Travel is expected to be "treacherous."
