Decorah City Administrator Chad Bird says he's happy to stay here

Decorah City Administrator Chad Bird is not moving to Waverly to take a similar job there.

Bird was one of five finalists for the City Administrator job in his home town.  Monday night he told the Decorah City Council, "I'm overwhelmed by the support I received (from Decorah residents)."  Bird says community members "graciously supported me" when he announced he might move to his home town.

That move didn't happen.  Heading into last weekend's job interviews, Bird said he loves Decorah and the interviews would help him decide whether his longtime desire to return to his hometown is something that he wants to do or whether this has become hometown now.
