City council terms end for Niess and Wagner

Monday night was the final city council meeting for members Jody Niess and Bill Wagner.  Niess, who has represented Decorah's 2nd Ward, and Wagner, who has represented Decorah's 4th Ward, both decided not to seek re-election in November.

Decorah Mayor Don Arendt presented both of them with a Decorah poster and thanked them for their service.

New city council members Dan Bellrichard and Steve Luse will be sworn into office at 4:45 Wednesday, December 30th.

Earlier this year, city council member Paul Wanless resigned and city council member Tade Kerndt decided not to seek re-election.  Andy Carlson took Wanless' seat in the 3rd Ward and Kirk Johnson won election to Kerndt's seat, meaning four of seven city council members will be recent newcomers when the city council in January, although Johnson previously served two terms on the city council.
