Decorah City Administrator Chad Bird will not be leaving his job to become City Administrator in Waverly--his home town.
Bird was one of five finalists to be interviewed for the job over the weekend--including Centerville City Administrator Patrick Antonen, Black Hawk County finance director James Bronner, Chariton City Manager Joe Gaa and Lancaster, Wisconsin City Administrator Steven Winger.
A Waverly City Hall source tells decorahnews.com the Waverly City Council voted Saturday to offer the job to one of the other candidates.
Bird has been Decorah City Administrator since October of 2011. He and his wife are both Waverly natives. Bird said he always thought he would want to be city administrator in Waverly, but he's grown to love Decorah.
