Decorah School District to renew three year bus barn lease

The Decorah Community School District intends to renew a three year lease, effective this June, for its bus barn and bus storage. The District had considered purchasing its own property and building a garage, but was unable to complete such a project before the expiration of the current lease.

Greg Bruening had quoted a potential two year lease at $5k per month for two years as an option, but the District opted for another three year lease, with a rate of $3,800 per month for the first year, and $4,000 for the last two years. Superintendent Mike Haluska said the three year lease made the most sense, since ultimately the bus barn and storage might need to be tied into other facility plans for the District and time would be needed to assess that option.
