Decorah City Administrator Chad Bird has been selected as one of five finalists for the job of Waverly City Administrator.
Waverly Newspapers reports that other finalists on the list are Centerville City Administrator Patrick Antonen, Black Hawk County finance director James Bronner, Chariton City Manager Joe Gaa and Lancaster, Wisconsin City Administrator Steven Winger.
Bird and the other four finalists will tour Waverly on Friday and then take part in an open forum from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. in the Waverly Public Library ICN Room.
Starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday the five candidates will have separate interviews with the Waverly City Council, City of Waverly department heads and a group of eight people selected by Waverly's mayor.
It's expected the Waverly City Council will vote Saturday to offer the job to one of the five candidates.
Bird has been Decorah City Administrator since October of 2011. He and his wife are both Waverly natives. Their three remaining parents live in Waverly. Bird says he always thought he would want to be city administrator in Waverly, but he's grown to love Decorah, too--so the interviews this weekend will help him to decide where his future lies.
