Lawyers argue over motions filed in the Alexander Fazzino murder trial

It's beginning to look more and more certain that a murder trial will be held in Decorah in February.

41-year-old Alexander Fazzino faces a first-degree murder charge following the death of his wife, Emily Fazzino, whose body was found on the bathroom floor of their home in January of 2012.  Murder charges were filed against her husband in April of 2013.  The trial has been stalled since then, but now seems likely to begin February 22nd in Decorah--four years after Emily Fazzino's death.

The Des Moines Register reports that lawyers for both sides in the case spent several hours Friday in a courtroom in Boone, Iowa, arguing about the qualifications of an expert the prosecution is expected to have tesify in the case.  The hearing will be continued later in December, according to the newspaper.

The murder trial has been moved to Decorah because Emily Fazzino's father, Richard Beckwith, is the former CEO of the Fareway Foods, which is based in Boone and defense attorneys requested the trial to be moved out of Boone.
