The Early Childhood Education programs at NICC Calmar and NICC Peosta are getting financial help from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to earn national accreditation.
The Kellogg Scholarship will defray application, self study review and site visit expenses as NICC's program begins its accreditation process. The goal is to earn a seven-year accreditation for the program.
If accreditation is awarded to the two-year Early Childhood Education program, NICC would be one of only two community college programs in the State of Iowa to have earned the national designation. NICC and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville have established a transfer agreement for graduates who plan to transfer their credits to earn a B.A. degree at the university. NICC is in the process of finalizing a similar agreement with Upper Iowa University.
