Tuesday is "Giving Tuesday," a day set aside to focus on giving back to those in need after the Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday shopping blitz.
The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, the parent organization of Winneshiek County Community Foundation, is hosting a photo/video submission contest on its Facebook page on Tuesday. Three winners will be selected to award a $500 grant to the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization of their choice in the area served by the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa and its 24 affiliate county and community foundation partners.
Participants must take a photo or short video of their giving in some form and post their submission to the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CFNEIA between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday, December 1. Community Foundation staff will select winners who will be notified in December.
"The Community Foundation wants to lift up the #GivingTuesday movement as a way of creating awareness of the importance of giving back, whether that means people make a financial contribution to a charity, volunteer their time, or do a good deed," said Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa President and CEO Kaye Englin.
