Decorah Police say they have responded to four traffic accidents in the past week.
On Monday around 3:30 p.m., 16-year-old Steven Baldridge of Decorah was ticketed for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign when his car went through the intersection of Main Street and Day Street and struck the side of a car being driven by 72-year-old John Rodecap of Decorah. Neither driver was injured.
On Friday, November 20th at 7:30 p.m. 39-year-old Shawn O'Neill of Decorah stopped on Water Street at William Street to allow pedestrians to cross the street. 19-year-old Hannah Tulgren of River Falls, Wisconsin, told police she was unable to stop because of slippery roads and slide into the back of O'Neill's car. The accident caused $2,500 in damages. Tulgren was ticketed for Driving Too Fast For Conditions.
On Thursday, November 19th, at 4:00 p.m. 16-year-old Brianna Hauber of Decorah lost control of her vehicle after it went through some mud. The driver overcorrected and went into the ditch. She was ticketed for Failure to Maintain Control of a Vehicle.
At 11:00 a.m. Thursday 79-year-old Orvin Hotvedt got his feet mixed up and hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, sending his SUV into the back of an SUV driven by 23-year-old Morgan Mc Millan of Waukon. The accident caused $4,600 in damages. Hotvedt was ticketed for Failure to Maintain Contro.
