With low commodity prices predicted through next year, many farmers are looking to trim costs. Registration has begun for a workshop in Decorah after Christmas that will teach area farmers how to use soil tests to maximize fertilizer applications instead of just cutting back across-the-board.
"We will take a step-by-step approach on understanding what to test for, how labs provide test results, and how to turn those results into fertilizer rates", says Extension agronomist Brian Lang.
The workshop will be held December 29th from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the Winneshiek County Extension office at 325 Washington Street in Decorah.
The two-hour program is free but seating is limited, so RSVP to the Winneshiek County Extension Office at 563-382-2949. For more information, contact Brian Lang at 563-387-7058 or bjlang@iastate.edu
