26 Decorah students will be in Ames Thursday for the Opus Honor Choirs

26 Decorah students will participate Thursday in the 30th annual Opus Honor Choir Festival, performing with the choirs at 4:00 p.m. in C.Y. Stephens Auditorium in the Iowa State Center in Ames.

Over 3,000 students were nominated by their directors for 720 positions in the four Opus Honor Choirs--5th & 6th Grade Elementary Honor Choir, 7th & 8th Grade Bass Clef Honor Choir, 7th & 8th Grade Treble Clef Honor Choir and 9th Grade Mixed Honor Choir.  Selections were made by means of a recorded audition.
 
5th graders Aryana Kim and Ada Lovelace; 6th graders Robyn Dayton, Caleb Huebner, Cole Huebner, Adrian Kim, Mikiah Krieg and Grace Robison; 7th graders Gabriel Anderson, Sofie Grouws, Leila Johnson,
Noah Lovelace and Cooper McElree; 8th graders Katherine Bruening, Audrey Casterton, Finn Deen-Lester, Lillie Grouws, Owen Henning, Nils Holkesvik, Annette Leschensky, Lily Smith, Kaj SpencerBerg and  Jacob Voigt and 9th graders Simon Hadley, Gus Hayes and Christian Johnson will represent Decorah.

This is the tenth year that Decorah students have auditioned for the Opus Honor Choirs. During this time 199 students from Decorah have been accepted.  Another 16 Decorah students have been selected by submission through community choirs in Decorah, bringing the total to 215 students.
