Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Rob Hogg stopped in Decorah Thursday to tour the Luther College solar energy arrays at 902 Pole Line Road.
Hogg said climate change is real—but "we can solve it." He says the United State has developed all kinds of solutions to the problem.
Hogg advocates restoring the wind tax credit; extending the solar tax credit; supporting EPA minimum standards for power plant production; and having the United States sign an international climate agreement.
Hogg, a state senator from Cedar Rapids, praised the "bipartisan support" the Iowa legislature gave to legislation in 2012 creating a solar energy tax credit. He says the legislation led to 1,300 solar energy installations, $100 million in spending and the creation of 1,000 new jobs.
