Winneshiek Medical Center's hillside along Montgomery Street might be getting a makeover in the near future.
Hospital officials say they have received complaints about the area being "unsightly," including having too many weeds. That has led to a proposal to level the hill, so the area can be mowed.
However, the property is officially owned by Winneshiek County, so hospital officials have to consult with county supervisors. There are also around 50 trees that have been planted by the Boy Scouts and would probably have to be moved.
Another proposal being studied is to put up fencing along the wall.
The work could be done yet this month. Hospital officials say this time of the year is the best time to do such work, so they would postpone the project to next November if they aren't able to get all the approvals this month.
