A Spillville man appeared in court Thursday on charges stemming from a disturbance at his home on Wednesday.
51-year-old Jeffery Kuennen of Spillville has been charged with two felonies and four aggravated misdemeanors. The felonies are two counts of Interference with Official Acts. The aggravated misdemeanors are Aggravated Domestic Assault, Aggravated Child Endangerment, Aggravated Eluding and Aggravated Carrying Weapons.
The charges stem from when Sheriff's Deputies were called to his home because of a report of a man with a loaded handgun. Kuennen then allegedly fled from law enforcement officers with the loaded handgun in a 1994 Ford Pickup. He eventually pulled over for law enforcement and was taken into custody without incident.
Kuennen made an initial court appearance Thursday before Magistrate Judge Nathan Moonen. Kuennen was released on a signature with no bond required. A "No Contact" order was issued against Kuennen to protect family members who were in the house when Kuennen allegedly was threatening them and waving around the pistol.
A preliminary hearing in the case has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday, November 19th.
