The referendum on a communications utility in Decorah appears to have generated higher-than-normal turnout on Tuesday's election.

County Auditor Ben Steines says there were almost 1,400 ballots cast in Decorah (1,396).  That is 27.8 percent of the registered voters.  By contrast, there were 1,223 ballots cast in 2013 and 805 ballots cast in 2011.
