NICC again named as "Military Friendly School"

For the sixth consecutive year, Northeast Iowa Community College has earned a listing as a "Military Friendly® School."  G.I. Jobs, an online resource for U.S. military personnel, compiles the listings and awards the "Military Friendly" label to the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America's veterans as college students.

NICC provides support to students through Student Veterans Association groups at the Calmar and Peosta campuses.  At the Calmar campus students and staff have developed the "Vet2Vet Mentoring Program" to provide additional support for veterans in their adjustment to civilian and college life. The program offers assistance with Veterans Affairs paperwork, suggests referrals to veterans for on-campus and community organizations as needed, and offers opportunities for veterans to share their experiences with other student veterans.
