Ask Mr. Answer Person: "What's happening on Court Street?"

(A decorahnews.com reader stopped Mr. Answer Person on the street to ask about the construction work going on along Court Street in Decorah)

Mr. Answer Person says: "Court Street in the only remaining brick surfaced street in Decorah.  So making repairs to it is a little more complicated than making repairs to other streets.

Crews have been working on the sidewalk and curbs on Court Street--not on the street itself.  But the work required the removal of several columns of brick pavers.

Those pavers now have been put on pallets and will be placed in storage over the winter.  Next spring a local volunteer--Norbie Bohr--will begin the intricate work of cutting the brick pavers so they fit exactly back into the street surface.  In the meantime, some gravel will be placed along the curbing so cars and trucks can continue to park along the sidewalk.
