Ask Mr. Answer Person: Whose picture was used in that political ad?

(Joe e-mails: "Did you see that political ad in the newspaper that compared one of the Decorah City Council candidates to some "arrogant tyrant?"  My question is, 'Who the (heck) is it in the picture?"

Mr. Answer Person says, "Take a look at the picture above.  If you know a little American Revolution history, you might know that the picture is of King George the Third of Great Britain.

It was King George who refused to appoint any Americans to serve in the British Parliament--and then imposed stiff taxes on the colonists.  You probably do remember what happened next--the Boston Tea Party, the Revolutionary War and the formation of the United States.

But the original famous cry against King George was "No taxation without representation."  Of course, you'll have to ask someone else what that has to do with a Decorah City Council election.
